Donate a Bed
After moving into our new shelter, we soon realized that we did not have enough beds to go around. While we have received many as donations, many of our orphans do not have one. We use blankets and dog beds for them, but they are staying wet and continuously getting chewed to shreds. Please consider donating a Kauranda bed so one more of our "fur angels" can sleep in the comfort that they deserve.
If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort order here.

Sumter Humane Society Board hears presentation from Bernstein

The board of the Sumter Humane Society heard a presentation earlier this week from Laura Lee Bernstein, kneeling, who, along with her decoy coyote Co Co, took a 48-state and Washington, D.C., 39-day, 10,300-mile trip around the country to raise funds for the local humane society. Following Bernstein’s presentation, the board thanked her for her fund-raising idea and gave a ‘generous’ donation to the ‘Where’s Co Co?’ campaign in Bernstein’s name. Bernstein said her GoFundMe link and Where’s Co Co? FB page will remain active until she reaches her $5,000 goal. Shown with the map of Bernstein’s route are, from left, board members Linda Kidd, Rob Brown, Lisa Whitaker, Blue Argo, Tinka Newman, Karen Newton, Don Smith and Ruth Olson, shelter director.

Where' s Co Co? by Laura Lee Bernstein - GoFundMe

WHERE'S CO CO?

I am taking a road trip across all 48 continental states with my loyal companion Co Co, the decoy coyote, to raise money for the locally underfunded Humane Society in Americus, Georgia. As the former Chief Administrative Officer of Americus, I became aware of the need for this entity to be funded appropriately in order for them to continue the excellent job of serving our community. I was not able to help out as much as I would have liked in my role as the City Administrator, but as a regular "Joe Citizen" I am hoping to draw some needed attention to all Humane Societies across the country and additional funding to the Sumter County Humane Society in Americus, Georgia.

Spay/Neuter Excuses
We hear excuses every day on why people don't spay and neuter their animals. We want everyone to know that there is NO EXCUSE! If you plan on breeding your animal, you must have a breeder's license from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. We have a very affordable Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program. Please contact the shelter for details on how you would qualify. Our stipulations have changed, if you didn't previous qualify, you certainly may now! It isn't uncommon for Sumter Humane Society to receive 40+ kittens and 30+ puppies in one day. These numbers are astronomical, and they can be prevented!
Please do your part!

Donations are the life of any non-profit organization and the Sumter Humane Society is no exception.
