Are you Traveling?
Sumter Humane Society sends animals to rescue organizations all over the country! Transporting an animal can be a very rewarding experience! Who wouldn't want an adorable one way passenger on their next trip? Contact our Rescue Coordinator at  for details!

 Americus & Sumter County

Adults - $25.00 each
Puppies & Kittens $25 (1st animal) and $5 each additional litter mate
Female with litter - $25 adult - $5 each puppy or kitten
Sick or injured animals - $45 each

Because of lack of funding and overpopulation, the Sumter Humane Society no longer accepts animals from out of our county.

Donate a Bed
After moving into our new shelter, we soon realized that we did not have enough beds to go around. While we have received many as donations, many of our orphans do not have one. We use blankets and dog beds for them, but they are staying wet and continuously getting chewed to shreds. Please consider donating a Kauranda bed so one more of our "fur angels" can sleep in the comfort that they deserve.
If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort order here.

Spay/Neuter Excuses
We hear excuses every day on why people don't spay and neuter their animals. We want everyone to know that there is NO EXCUSE! If you plan on breeding your animal, you must have a breeder's license from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. We have a very affordable Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program. Please contact the shelter for details on how you would qualify. Our stipulations have changed, if you didn't previous qualify, you certainly may now! It isn't uncommon for Sumter Humane Society to receive 40+ kittens and 30+ puppies in one day. These numbers are astronomical, and they can be prevented!
Please do your part!
